This carpet is memorable for its unsurpassed coloring and elegant arabesque strap-work border. It and a number of other quite similar fragments are now scattered about in various museums all over the world. It is likely but not certain they are all from the same carpet and, if so, this carpet would then have been over 13 meters long.

The large size and abstract design of the vase carpets, which lack human and animal depiction, would have made them suitable as furnishing pieces for both Mosque and Palace.
